I support stronger gun legislation. A simple background check or red flag laws are not enough. Instead, I propose that gun owners should be required to have an employer sponsored, government backed security clearance. This would be the same kind of Secret or Top Secret security clearance you would need for classified government work, which I had while working at the Department of Energy. This goes above and beyond simple background checks, and can include mental health checks as well as financial checks.
Other solutions include requiring gun ownership to also hold liability insurance, as well as requiring bullets to have individual serial numbers, with a database on its supply chain. Going further, we can require guns to include cameras as well as GPS tracking and remote disablement.
I do support hunting and we should also allow more public schools to teach hunting.
